Fox Valley Catholic Bible Study for Women offers a structured, Catholic daytime Scripture study with a spiritually enriching program for preschool children. Study materials present biblical interpretation consistent with the teachings of the Catholic Church.
This study is intended to provide opportunities for a deepening faith and love of our Lord Jesus Christ. Participants are encouraged to recognize and strengthen the Body of Christ within their home parishes. Our study provides a supportive, loving, spiritual environment, fostering and celebrating a sense of community within the larger church. All area women are invited to attend.
WINTER 2025 Study: WOMEN IN THE OLD TESTAMENT
In Scripture we encounter God and come to know God’s people. Women in the Old Testament takes you on a journey through Israel’s beginnings, Israel’s captivity and freedom, and Israel’s tribal period from the perspective of the earliest women of salvation history. While we may know the Bible stories of Israel’s military leaders, kings, and prophets, we are often less familiar with the stories of the women who helped to establish a monarchy, defend Israel’s interests, and reflect God’s image in unique ways.
Guided by the classic commentary of Irene Nowell, OSB, and the contemporary scholarship of Jaime Waters, enter into these ancient stories of women of the Bible that remain rich and relevant for believers today. Commentary, study and reflection questions, prayers, and access to online lectures are included.
Our Winter 2025 study will be held at St. John Neumann Parish (2900 E. Main St, St Charles, IL) from January 16th to March 27th. A zoom only option is also available.
We gather at 9am. A speaker will give a reflection on the weekly lesson at 9:15am, followed by small group discussions. The $30 fee includes the study materials. Structured childcare is offered for children age 2 through 6 for a one-time fee of $10 per child. Children under 2 will stay with their mothers in a special group.
Partial and full scholarships are available upon request.
Directions to the church and online registration are available on this website. Please register early. We look forward to studying with you.
